Congrats! You are ready to start your new blog!
Blogging has become more and more influential each and every day. Brands understand how important influencers are to the growth of their company and they are starting to recognize bloggers as well.
There is a lot of information on the web that shares ways on how to start your own blog. Many details on their websites explains the different types of software, equipment, and often times unclear information on what you may need to start your own blog. However, many of these websites try to sell you their "ultimate blogger" kit or online course that may not have all of the necessary tools you may need to start your own blog.
So, what is a blog?
A blog is information, opinions, or topics published on a website in accordance with the author's point of view. You may consider blogging as an online diary or journal. Experts believe the purpose of a blog is to connect with an audience who resonates to the same topic at hand.
What are you going to blog about?
Not sure? I have a few questions that may help to identify how to get you started with your blog.
What is your niche? Your niche can be identified by knowing and understanding your passions. Ask yourself, what are you good at? You must recognize the value of your niche in order to provide value to your audience.
Who is your target audience? You are not talking to everyone because not everyone may relate to your niche. But are you talking directly to fitness bloggers or mom bloggers? Define your audience and share with them the value of who you are. Understanding your audience can help shape the name of your blog.
What is your blog name? The name of your blog should set the tone for your readers. It will allow your audience members to know what to expect from your blog and how it relates to them. A great tip is to study your competitors. Do they blog or does the brand name convey an instant message to help identify your targeted audience? A blog name can be essential to the growth of a blog's recognition.
What is your blogging platform? This can be tricky. You want to follow your audience and identify where they are. However, the blogging platform has to make sense for you. Therefore, if you are not an active Facebook user, do not blog on that platform. Select the platform that better fits your brand. For DBB, we are very active on Instagram and on our website.
How will you create content? Now is the time for you to shine, friend! You have completed all the essentials and now it is time for you to walk the walk. Create that photoshoot! Create that reelz! Go live on Instagram. Write that blog post. We want to see you shine in your natural state as a blogger!
